Review guidelines
Honest, first-hand and fair
Draft
The short version
Do
- Write about a real experience you had in the last year or so
- Say what happened, what went well and what did not
- Keep it about the company: the product, service, delivery or support
- Update your review if things change, for example after a complaint is resolved
Do not
- Review a company you own, work for or compete with
- Accept money, discounts or gifts in exchange for a review
- Share personal details: names of staff, phone numbers, emails, addresses or order numbers
- Post hate speech, threats, harassment or sexual content
- Paste links or promote another business
- Post the same review more than once, or under several accounts
For reviewers
Write from experience
Review a company only after you have bought from it, used its service or dealt with it directly. Tell us when it happened with the date of experience. Opinions about a company you have only read about belong elsewhere.
Be specific and fair
The most helpful reviews explain why. Mention what you ordered, how long things took, how a problem was handled. Criticism is welcome; personal attacks are not. Reviews need at least 20 characters and can be up to 5,000.
One review per company per year
You can review each company once every 12 months. If your experience changes, edit your existing review from your account rather than writing a new one.
Your rating
Rate from 1 to 5 in half steps. Pick the rating that matches your whole experience, not a single moment of it. See how scores work for how your rating feeds the business's score.
What we do not allow
- Fake or paid-for reviews. Reviews written for reward, by the business itself, by friends or family on its behalf, or to damage a competitor.
- Conflicts of interest. Reviews of a company you work for, own, are related to or compete with.
- Personal information. Full names of staff or customers, contact details, addresses, order or account numbers.
- Harmful or offensive content. Discrimination, threats, harassment, obscenity, or content that encourages illegal activity.
- Not an experience. Questions, adverts, political statements, or reviews about a different company.
Reviews that contain a link, an email address, a phone number, very short text or all capital letters are held for a quick check by our team before they go live.
For businesses
- You may invite any genuine customer to review you. Do not offer anything in return, and do not invite only customers you expect to be happy.
- Do not write reviews of your own business, or ask staff, friends or agencies to do it.
- Reply publicly and politely. Never reveal a reviewer's personal details in a reply.
- If you believe a review breaks these guidelines, report it. Reported reviews stay visible while our team decides, and a report never changes a score on its own.
When the rules are broken
Our moderation team reviews every report. If a review breaks these guidelines we remove it and record the reason. Repeated or deliberate abuse, by reviewers or businesses, can lead to accounts being closed.
